McKinney Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act
The McKinney Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act, and the Fremont County School District #6 Board of Education, ensure the educational rights for students who are homeless. If you wish to have a copy of this document or more information, please contact the school at (307) 856-7970.
Your children have the right to:
Continue to attend school in the school attended before you became homeless (school of origin).
Receive transportation to the school of origin.
Enroll in school without giving a permanent address and attend classes while the school arranges for a school transfer, immunization records or other documents required for enrollment.
Receive the same special programs and services, if needed, as provided to all other children served in these programs.
Have enrollment disputes quickly addressed.
Welcome to the Fremont County School District #6 Special Services Page.
Our special services team is committed to providing the special education services needed to help all students of the district succeed at the highest levels.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) makes a free appropriate public education available to eligible children with disabilities and ensures special education and related services to these children.
Some of the purposes of this law include:
To ensure that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living;
To ensure that the rights of children with disabilities and parents of such children are protected;
To ensure that educators and parents have the necessary tools to improve educational results for children with disabilities by supporting system improvement activities; coordinated research and personnel preparation; coordinated technical assistance, dissemination, and support; and technology development and media services;
To assess, and ensure the effectiveness of, efforts to educate children with disabilities.
We appreciate parent support as we strive to provide the necessary special education services to the children of the district. Parents are a vital part of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team and we welcome your input along the way.
